Pizza Dough

Pizza Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 2¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast

  • 1½ cups warm water (110°F)

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 3½ cups all-purpose flour (or bread flour for chewier crust)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1½ tsp salt

Instructions:

  1. Activate the yeast:
In a large bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy on top.

  2. Make the dough:
Add olive oil, salt, and 3 cups of flour. Stir with a wooden spoon or dough hook. Gradually add the remaining ½ cup flour as needed until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.

  3. Knead:
Knead by hand on a floured surface (or in a stand mixer) for 8–10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

  4. First rise:
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp towel or plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

  5. Divide & shape:
Punch down the dough and divide it into 2 equal balls. Let them rest for 10–15 minutes before stretching into pizza rounds.

  6. Top & bake:
Preheat your oven to 475°F. For best results, use a pizza stone or preheated baking sheet.
Bake 10–12 minutes or until crust is golden and toppings are cooked to your liking.
