Ground Beef Pasta

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 small onion, chopped

  • 2–3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 jar (24 oz) spaghetti sauce (store-bought or homemade)

  • 12 oz pasta (penne, rotini, or spaghetti work great) or what ever you like.

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)

  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

  • Fresh parsley or basil for garnish (optional)

    Instructions:

  • Cook the pasta:
Boil a large pot of salted water. Cook the pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.

    Cook the beef:
In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until soft (about 3–4 minutes). Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.

    Brown the beef:
Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it up with a spoon (about 6–8 minutes). Drain excess fat if needed.

    Combine with pasta:
Add the cooked pasta to the sauce, or serve the sauce on top of the pasta—your choice! Stir well to coat. At this point you could just add some butter or oil to the pot and eat as is if you did not want the spaghetti sauce.

    Add sauce:
Pour in the spaghetti sauce and stir to combine. Add Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to taste. Simmer on low heat for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Serve:
Plate it up and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and fresh herbs if desired.
